Student Development at Spears

As Director of Student Development in the Eastin Center for Talent Development and Eastin Chair for Talent Development at Oklahoma State University’s Spears School of Business, I help students turn classroom knowledge into career-ready confidence.

How I Help Students

Career Readiness

I help students develop the professional skills employers expect, including communication, confidence, preparation, judgment, and the ability to work well with others.

Professor & Mentor

Through teaching, mentoring, and one-on-one conversations, I help students connect what they learn in class to real decisions, real conversations, and real career opportunities.

SURF Board

I founded Student’s Understanding Real-World Fundamentals, known as SURF, to connect students with alumni mentors and help them build relationships beyond the classroom.

Ethics Team Faculty Sponsor

I serve as faculty sponsor for the Spears School of Business Ethics Team, helping students prepare for competitions that challenge them to think clearly, communicate professionally, and reason through difficult ethical situations.

My Approach

I don’t just teach courses — I prepare students for “the game of life.” My goal is to help every student communicate clearly, think critically, negotiate effectively, and build a strong personal brand so they graduate ready to lead.

Classes I Teach

BADM 3113: Practical Business and Interpersonal Skills

Often known as the Interpersonal Skills class, this course focuses on the practical skills students need to succeed in business and in life: communication, influence, networking, problem-solving, resilience, confidence, and working well with others.

Students learn how to approach real conversations, build professional relationships, prepare for interviews, contribute to teams, and carry themselves with confidence beyond the classroom.
